  Addictions,, are they caused by a deep unfulfilled need for Spirtuality??

  i was watching a video "the wisdom of the dream" volume 3 it's all about carl jung.

  in one part of the video it talks about addictions and brings up the fact that one of the men that started aa, was a man who was told by c. jung that the only way for him to cure his addiction to alcohol was for him to have a religious experience,, he was also warn by jung that if he didn't have a religios experience he would never cure his addiction.

  jungs notes about this subject says: "spiritus contra spiritum" .

  So what do you think does spirtuality provide strenght needed to overcome addictions?

  Timothy Leary found that LSD and similar psycho-active agents had the power to un-print the brain and allow a re-imprinting to something more current, which was way circumstance in doing LSD is considered by those proficient, very important...

  deeply religious experiences seem to be linked to psychic breaks which are likely induced by a similar internal drug over dosing capable of re-setting the imprints acquired along the journey, mostly by accident and ignorance...

  I find that we are, more than anything else, driven by a desire to seek a solution to anxieties which arise within us... some of them are slow building and others are quite painful... but the orgasmic release associated with many drugs and sex is only a momentary relief and satisfaction from this constant inner hunger....the relentless gnawing of life for the elusive satisfactions we discover along the way...

  when someone hits upon a powerful bliss triggering agent, be it sex or drugs, it seems to lay down very powerful mental tracks so that anything associated near it will trigger a rememberance of it and drive you towards it

  the witnesses know how to getcha to "do more".

  guilt is their main weapon.

  if you feel guilty over something no one might ever know about, the watchtower society has seen to it that even whatever you might have thought of or done in secret will be revealed.......were you ever guilty of a secret sin??

  masturbation was a topic I fought in my head for many years as a JW.... I could not see, on the one hand how it could really

  be a big deal sin, because the bible was completely silent about it... and the FACT that some of the ancient worthies like Judah could visit prostitutes without divine retribution seemed to be justification for it being not so bad...

  also it seemed odd that in the O.T. that a man could NOT commit adultry by having sex with an unmarried [unowned] female... and adultry was the only death penalty sin in the OT... so surely choking the chicken could not merit eternal damnation, right?

  and then there was the lie about the average BORG UNIT not having to be debriefed al la catholic confessional style.

  1975 was when I first started studying with a JW in highschool and he never mentioned anything special at all about it.

  I really did not hear about it from any JWs or anyone else until mid 1980s

  I read somewhere on the Internet they want to ban religion! Is that true?

  i didn't take much notice of it at the time, but i use to be apart of message board (jw one) and the webmaster provided a link to a web page.

  i read it a little, and didn't take much notice of it at the time and thought it was corks.

  but can anyone provide any links concerning this?

  trying to take away religion is like trying to take away irrational fear and change everyones mind to accept a world devoid of gods, spirits and things that go bump in the night.

  ...its a great idea, but its not something anyone

  currently has the power to do, nor likely ever to have.

  eh peter jennings is doing a show on ufos tonight...i think he is a good news man with a level head, some sass, and a lot of fair minded reporting..i hope this show is good and he sticks to his usual reporting style.

  the belief that the gov't is hiding it because they fear the populace will implode if they found out "the truth" is likely

  dead since more then 50% believe and life goes on.... unless of course "the truth" is that the gov't is hiding it for fear

  they will be found to be complicit in selling out the human race... but that seems mostly unlikely :)

  You hit the nail on the head. Christians DONT reject the freemasons. True Christians SHOULD reject any type of freemasonry.

  This is why I believe all religions are a diversion from the real truth.

  I got news for you pal, the freemasons are the closest to the original gnostics who started christianity and the christians you consider the "real" ones are the ones who stole it from them by force and murder...... there is no evidence whatso ever that the original christianity was anything more than a rework of the mysteries taught in egypt and greece which has been passed down to the masons.

  If the WTS THEMSELVES placed the pyramid there, it would even further prove their association with freemasonry. Either way, whether the freemasons put it there ot the WTS put it there, a true, clean holy org. of the true God would not have such symbology associated with it.

  first of all you assume that many christians reject the freemasons, and then as now, this is most certainly not the case.

  the masons are found in all religions openly except for the catholics and jws and a few others who are more cultish and exclusive.

  Masonic symbolism is link to the bible and egyptian technology, which many bible believers was partly due to Joseph being 2nd ruler in Egypt...etc... as C T Russell may have...so no big conspiracy

  just a question because of course we all either believed we were in the 'truth', are still in the 'truth' have left and found the 'truth', there is no 'truth' or that the only truth is found in the trailer park with a bottle of bud and a bunch of 'pozzies:)

  What does collective agreement have to do with a logical outcome? In the US, would not the same logical outcome occur in China. Further what is stable or consistent about a "collective agreement"?

  Do you hold that the material universe is all, or that "GOD" (Generator Of Dreams, yes?) extends beyond those bounds?

  I hold that the totality of reality is all that one can conceive and imagine...and what actually is... and as far as I know, I am one part of that whole and there is no other GOD but all of it as that one whole.

  GOD as Generator of Dreams seems more accurate, but not god or God in the sense of theism as in pan-theism... so I would still hold being a pan-me-ist is more accurate.

  I do believe that as we evolve we likely will become the God that people have believed in...and I believe it is likely that just prior to this incarnation of the apparently physical universe we were that very same God...and are now the scattered ashes of that one on our way to becoming the phoenix who rises from these ashes... and becomes that same God once again... so that the alpha and omega points of the universe are one and identicle for perhaps a very very brief moment.

  think of the evolving universe as a strand of pearls... as one closes to a point, at that point being the ONE, the ALL, the God, it then reopens into a new pearl...an new universe which will eventually return to being God and keep on doing this over and over again throughout eternity, perhaps slightly or greatly different each time
